Hyundai Genesis

Back in March we revealed sketches of Hyundai's Concept Genesis, which was subsequently unveiled at the New York Auto Show in April. While the concept blazed down the luxury path previously uncharted by the Korean automaker - sporting a rear-drive architecture and a V8 powerplant - the production version seems to have adopted some of its German competition's styling cues.

Following an interview with Hyundai's North America chief designer Joel Piaskowski at the New York Auto Show, we fully expected the concept to change. But these official photographs, which shows the Genesis sedan in full production glory prior to its 'official' debut at the NAIAS, shows a toned-down aesthetic that includes a front face that is reminiscent of a Mercedes-Benz W220 S-class and the rear taillamp treatment of a BMW E60 5-series.

These are, however, only first impressions. We'll give you a full report when we see the car in the metal at the NAIAS in January.
