Honda Accord (US market)

This is a significant new production design; the Accord is off and on the best selling sedan in North America.

The new sedan is clearly an evolutionary design as its predecessors were and as befits its market. It has more heft than before for a slightly stronger and more imposing look, and appears to have taken a lead from the BMW 5 Series in its rear fender surfacing and lower bumper treatments and DLO. An inch taller and wider and three inches longer than its predecessor means the Accord moves from mid-size to large in the EPA classification for US market cars.

The coupe debuts along with the sedan, its design previewed closely by the Accord Coupe Concept shown earlier this year in Detroit.

Inside the US market Accord is a subtle progression of the theme established by its predecessor and shared with the European market Accord.

Technically the Accord sedan and coupe are also evolutionary developments of the outgoing model launched in 2003 with a 3.5 liter V6 and 2.4 liter four cylinder.
