Fisker Automotive claims they are developing a new multi-speed gearbox for electric vehicles which results in Bugatti Veyron-like performance for them.

For now it�s just a theory, but Fisker believes their new gearbox design that allows more than one speed will be able to deliver enormous amounts of torque to the wheels, thus enhancing acceleration and speed. The main problem however is reliability.
