2008 Subaru EXIGA Review

Based on the concept of a seven-seater with panoramic visibility for the touring experience, the Subaru Exiga been developed to provide a safe and pleasant journey for all occupants. Exploit its knowledge, gained from building wagons and crossover SUVs, Subaru has succeeded in creating open and comfortable interior space for all passengers to easily engage in conversation and share the travel experience is enhanced by dramatic wide-angle views through the windows.

The new model represents Subaru's latest proposal for a new type of multi-passenger vehicles, built on Subaru's strengths in vehicle stability, low noise and ride quality - all made available by the Subaru engine and horizontally opposed Subaru Dynamic Chassis Control Concept (Subaru DC3).

Seven passengers

Although the body size that best fits the steering wheel, Subaru Exiga comfortably accommodate seven passengers, providing plenty of space and a pleasant stroll for each passenger. Excellent program and facilities were added to the introduction of new models for better visibility, entry / exit, and cargo space.

Panorama

A bright, open interior space was created for the passengers safely to enjoy the view outside. The low noise level allows all vehicle passengers to converse easily.

Tourism

In addition to high standards, both active and passive Subaru Exiga blends high performance and trouble-free handling of ride comfort of high quality. The vehicle also offers excellent environmental performance and fuel economy.

Appearance

Subaru Exiga exterior design expresses the integration of the utility of a design of seven squares and elegant.

Two different grid are available separately. Atmospheric models possess style that highlights refinement and simplicity with flowing chrome-plated contours. The design for the turbo model stresses a sporty and muscular printing by adopting a powerful wing-shape embellishment in dark chrome on a ground wire.

Projectors are designed to provide the depth of the front. The light blue area in the center, the design that emphasizes the courage and presence.

Each of the four Exiga model range is equipped with distinctive wheels and individually designed spokes.

Eight exterior colors are available.

Wheelbase: 2750 mm

Inside

Decorative insets with a horizontal pattern from the central panel of the dashboard to the door trim add dimension and a quality look inside. Rich and refined interior design is further enhanced by the central panel, which combines wood and metal finish, and the indirect blue LED light installed on the overhead console, center tray and some foot areas.

Ivory tone that accentuates openness and light, and pitch black, which highlights both sportiness and elegance, are available inside.

The seats are newly designed to support with the residents and to reduce fatigue, even a long journey, and seat cushions are made of thick effectively absorb vibration and comfort.

The meter module on the instrument panel is clearly designed with the bottom meter faces illuminated in blue to make white rings clearly visible. Sport Luminescent Meter, outlined with chrome rings meters, is available on the 2.0GT, 2.0iL and 2.0iS.

Powertrain

2.0 liter DOHC Engine (2.0i, 2.0iL, 2.0iS)

The use of a redesigned DOHC cylinder head and valve control system asset (AVCS) promotes excellent environmental performance. Fuel economy also is best achieved through the adoption of regular gasoline engine.

When optimizing the diameter and length of the intake manifold, and the approval of the same length / constant pulsation independent exhaust system, engine intake and exhaust performance has been increased.

Two catalytic converters have been placed in tandem. The provision allows the converters to quickly heat up, which facilitates catalytic activation during engine startup and improves the efficiency of emission reduction.

Expanding capacity exhaust with dual mufflers, resistance to air flow inside the muffler reduced, and excellent engine output characteristics and noise reduction are realized.

Electronic sensors control system helps reduce engine load and improves fuel economy by controlling electric generation according to driving conditions.

Max Power: 109 kW (148PS) at 6000 rpm

Max. Torque: 191 Nm @ 3200 rpm

2.0 liter DOHC turbocharged engine (2.0GT)

A lightweight, resin-based intake manifold is used. Within the walls of collectors are smooth and less resistant to the intake flow, elevating intake efficiency.

The turbo was developed exclusively for Subaru Exiga. Optimizing your A / R and compressor, and a review of its propeller turbine generally has improved low-end torque and made a strong acceleration and possible response.

Also approved was a secondary air system that forces air into the exhaust port to burn the gas remains in it. The system helps eliminate harmful substances when the powertrain is still cool, and it promotes early activation of a catalytic converter.

Optimization of construction intercooler, the pressure drop is at best to improve the cooling efficiency.

The electrical control system of the sensor reduces engine load and further improve fuel economy.

Max Power: 165kW (225PS) @ 5600 rpm

Max. Torque: 326 Nm @ 4400 rpm

Engine and chassis

Lightweight and compact 4-speed with selection of Sport gearshift is standard on all models 2.0-liter naturally aspirated. By optimizing the final speed, and reducing friction between the assembled party, driving performance has been strengthened and improved fuel economy.

5-speed with Sport Shift gear selection is standard on 2.0 liter turbo. The controller pulse down-shift is to increase the response smoothly shift gears when going into the manual mode.

The SI-Dive (Subaru Intelligent Drive) system on the 2.0GT model offers three different driving modes for the driver to enjoy: Intelligent, Sport and Sport Sharp.

Active Torque Splitter AWD system is mounted on all models of naturally aspirated engines. The Turbo model comes with Variable Torque Distribution (VTD) system. Both sets of optimum distribution of torque to the wheels with the firm control and traction, providing stability to any vehicle.

Integrating robust body structure with finely tuned chassis elements, all models feature Subaru DC3, which ensures exceptional handling and vehicle stability and superior ride comfort.

The vehicle is equipped with a strut front suspension, which is lightweight and durable. New design of the rails and stabilizers yield excellent steering response.

A double wishbone suspension at the rear with parameters optimized suspension geometry provides outstanding traction and vehicle stability and ride comfort, even at full occupancy.

All models use four-wheel ABS disc brakes with EBD (Electronic Brake-force Distribution) for exceptional braking ability. The Brake Assist system and a brake booster pulling unique design appropriately maximize braking control.

Two types of tires, 205/60R16 215/50R17 and are available. Both are capable of balancing various vehicle elements, including stability, braking, comfort and mileage.

Body Building and Safety

Subaru Exiga uses an advanced form of Subaru owners arch structure of the body frame reinforcement. Through streamlined body construction and the extensive use of high strength steel, the new model has achieved high body rigidity and light weight.

Improved living cover is used to connect front side frame and a pillar and support of the cross-members has been adopted to further improve steering response and stability of the vehicle increases.

Subaru Exiga, frame forward, achieved the highest levels of safety and crash on through effectively absorbing and dispersing crash impact the front, side or rear impact crashes.

By increasing the shock absorption in the front bumper and incorporating structural changes in the hood, the new model addresses safety features for pedestrians and other vehicles in collisions.

The front wiper system has a pressure of new uniform design in the form of fins that creates support to prevent the sheet take-off at high speed while driving.

Dual SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) airbags are standard on all models. SRS side airbags and curtain airbags that protect the third-row passengers have options producer.

All trim pillar adopts absorbing structures. To reduce the risk of neck injuries in rear-end collision, the seatbacks employ new damper designs.

A collapsible brake pedal is available on all models to reduce the risk of foot injuries in frontal collisions.
