Concept Car : Daimler Benz F-Cell Roadster

The combined effort of trainees at Daimler Benz resulted in the F-Cell Roadster. It�s a vehicle with a delicate balance of styles and technologies spanning the history of the company, such as carbon-fiber bucket seats with hand-stitched leather covers and the distinctively styled fiberglass front section, based on the component from the Formula One racing bodies. Also the traditional steering wheel is substituted by a joystick. The F-Cell is an emission free electric vehicle that has a top speed of 25kph. Sunday driving anyone?

2003 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG

While not quite as powerful as the CL65 AMG, the 2003 Mercedes-Benz CL55 AMG was still a force to be reckoned with.
Motor Trend described it as "Arnold Schwarzenegger in an Armani tuxedo".
Powered by a 493 horsepower, supercharged 5.4 liter single overhead cam V-8, the CL55 could turn the quarter mile in 12.38 seconds at 114.45 mph.
The listed top speed of the CL55 was 155 mph, but that's because of the electronic governor that most German manufacturers (except Porsche) place on their cars.

The CL55 was based on the Mercedes-Benz W215 platform and was produced in limited numbers (around 500 in the US) between 2000 and 2002.

The base price of the CL55 was $114,600.
And the fuel economy was 14 mpg in the city and 22 on the highway.

Almost identical but not actualWe wandered through his multi level carpark taking the odd non-Benz car from its stands giving it a quick service, plus spray grease in and on door hinges etc. An hour or two on the private roadway to get a little heat in things then puting it away for another indeterminate period.

In our roaming we decided to go through the unrestored and non-running lot and came upon some treasures he had forgotten he had!First up a German ww2 troop carrier (half-Track) which is fitted with a petrol engine! In the medium light it looked like a Benz or Maybach built engine (not that I am that familiar with the prewar stuff)!We checked it out a little closer and even though it was in a well used condition and a bit rusty, we concluded we should have a closer look when it is pulled into the service area. Keep posted for that one!He recalled that he bought it in an 'Auction' lot that came from a deceased/dispossessed eastern bloc government auction where he had only narrowly been able to get it out (or so they made out). He was forced to buy a container load of Eastern-bloc motorcycles to make up the required minimum export value, then they were able to include the 'troop-carrier' in the shipment and be guaranteed safe passage for the lot.What was revealed when the container with the motorcycles was opened was quite a few new 'Jawa' and 'CZ' motorcycles and most unexpected a ww2 'BMW' motorcycle with a sidecar!

There was excitement in my voice as I suggested we check it out, the Motorcycle collection is not given the credence the cars are but I am keen to check that particular machine!
We find it and it is complete, however, rotten tyres and a rusted-on fuel cap prevented anything happening but to pull it out and put in the order for tyres.
The tank mounted gearshift and 'Hi/Lo' range lever moved and all gears seemed to be present, but who knows!
So, we shall do all the oil and the rest while we wait for the tyres and check the 'Troop-Carrier' for viability for a run, since it has pads on the tracks (which need replacing) and the front tyres are cracked and ancient, we conclude this one will take a while!
I encouraged my friend to just leave it in the condition it is in with a thorough clean-up only and renewal of parts that just must be replaced to run as it should.

Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG

Comfort, style and speed.
The Mercedes-Benz CL65 AMG is powered by a 6.0 litre V12 BiTurbo engine that puts out 612 horsepower and 737 foot pounds of torque.
That allows this beauty to go from 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds.
This also gives the CL65 an 11.8 second quarter mile time at 120.9 mph.
It's estimated top speed is 186 mph.
The downside of this car is that the CL65 AMG is made to order in very small numbers.
And for the mundane stuff, the MPG is 11 in the city, and 17 on the highway.
The base price is around $203,700.

The Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren

Is this the fastest Mercedes-Benz ever made?
Probably.
Is it the fastest automatic transmission car in the world?
Possibly.

The SLR (Sport, Leicht, Rennsport) is a limited run (about 500 cars a year) car developed by Mercedes-Benz and McLaren Automotive.
Is this car quick?
Well the power plant is a 5.4-litre (331.9 cu in), supercharged, all aluminum, single overhead camV8 engine.
This little technological marvel puts out around 626 bhp in a 3898 lb car!
In tests conducted by Car and Driver, this sleek little beauty hit 0 to 60 in 3.6 seconds.
The SLR then turned in a quarter mile time of 11.6 seconds at 125 mph.
When Road and Track tested it, they turned 0 to 60 in 3.5 seconds and pulled 0 to 100 mph in 7.5 seconds.
And I remind you, this is with an automatic transmission.

The price for blasting around in this little rocket?
It starts out at around $ 495,000.
