2012 BMW 3 series

Could this be the next design for the best seller in the BMW family, the 3 series? The current E90 BMW 3-series has only been on the market since 2005 but details about the next-gen model are already circulating with most agreeing that the next model will feature styling lifted from the Concept CS.
Due in 2012, the next BMW 3-series will be the first of a family of BMW cars with a more recognizable face derived from the original styling of the Shanghai concept.

Now, this could be due to the general perception that BMW drivers have little in the way of road manners. It certainly cant be down to the cars themselves, because with the possible exception of the Z4, they are all good looking and perform well. This is particularly true of the new 3 Series Coupe.
Despite the generalisation of opinion, the 3 Series Coupe has remained at the top of its premium coupe tree for many years and the company expects this to continue with prospective sales of the latest, third generation car to reach 13,000 units per year in the UK. Mainly, these will be snapped up by male, golf-playing, senior business people, according to BMWs research. This survey also revealed that the top five reasons for choosing the coupe are: style, performance, handling and roadholding, comfort and reliability.

BMW 3 Series Reviews

The 3 Series is immensely important to BMW. It is their best selling model range in the UK and the highest selling model range in the compact executive sector of the UKs new car market. However it faces the strongest ever competition from the all-new Audi A4 and Mercedes-Benz C-Class. Unlike the 3 Series which has received re-styling and equipment upgrades, the Audi and Mercedes-Benz models are all-new, better equipped and larger than the versions they replace. The 3 Series remains the same size.

2012 BMW F30 3-Series Spy Shots, Now With a Better View of the Interior

Here are some more spy shots of the upcoming next-gen BMW 3-Series with a closer look at the interior. Codenamed the F30, BMW is likely to play its next bread and butter 3-Series pretty safe with an evolutionary design. Even without looking at the pics, we all know it'll be the 3-Series version of the 5-Series.

As stated in our previous post (read here), power is likely to come from a series of inline-4 and -6 cylinder gasoline and diesel engines that'll see some boost from turbochargers. Also, with BMW downsizing and boost-raising, the next M3 could see either a turbo V8 or possibly even revert to a lighter but high-output 6-cylinder.

Inside, you'll see the newest bit: the car's center information stack is turned slightly toward the driver, harking back to the good old days of BMW. Also, this F30 seAlso, this F30 sedan is just the beginning. After it and the coupe/convertible debut, we could see a hybrid and even a GT variant joining the ranks. As soon as we got some spy pics of those two nasties, we'll let you know.

BMW has officially released the details and photos of the refreshed 3 Series coupe and convertible.
As we await the next 3 Series sedan that is expected to be unveiled some time next year, we can enjoy a refreshed 3 Series coupe and convertible. The coupe and convertible get a refreshed face for the 2011 model year. This includes slightly tweaked headlights, a larger grille and a revised lower fascia. The rear end gets slightly revised taillights.
Under the hood the 335i gets a new turbo engine with only one turbo compared to the current twin-turbo setup. The new engine is supposed to have less turbo lag than the current twin-turbo inline six. According to BMW the new engine puts out the same 300 horsepower, but is more responsive and efficient.
The 2011 BMW 3 Series coupe and convertible will go on sale this spring.
