Auto Expo 2010 | AUTO WORLD

In a couple of months, India�s largest automobile expo would be held in Delhi.

Now in its 10th iteration, the Auto Expo 2010 not only promises to be grander than earlier, but with competition across industry increasing at a rapid pace, it also promises to be packed with new models and concept cars from all major automobile manufacturers.

Continuing on the theme �Mobility for all�, the 10th Auto Expo 2010 is scheduled to be held from 5th to 11th January, 2010 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, India.

Auto Expo 2010 will have special emphasis on safe and environment friendly fuels/vehicles, design and engineering, which is supposed to lead the technological development in automobiles for years to come.

Since the Auto Expo is held every other year, it is a must visit event for Indian Automobile Enthusiasts and would be extensively covered on TheIndiaCar.com from day one.

Concept Car : Suzuki Maruti RIII MPV 2010

Here is what Maruti Suzuki had on offer on day 1 of the 2010 Auto Expo. To begin with Maruti showcased its RIII MPV concept, the design of which has been done in-house, the SX4 hybrid, SX4 hatchback concept and the Kizashi. Also on display was the Eeco hybrid. The Eeco itself, will be launched at the Maruti pavillion at the Expo tomorrow, 6th January 2010.

The company plans to launch the Kizashi some time within the coming financial year (2010-2011). There is still no word on whether the Kizashi will come as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) or whether some amount of assembly will be carried out here. The Kizashi is likely to come with a 2.4-litre engine with an automatic transmission, producing in the region of 170 bhp.

Maruti has also announced that they are considering bringing in European Volkswagen diesel engines to power the SX4, as they believe the 1.3 Multijet isn't the right powerplant for the car. We believe a more powerful version of the 1.4 TDI or the 1.6 TDI that is being used in Europe, could very well be the engine of choice.

The Dodge Challenger Targa

Auburn Hills, Mich., 2008 The Dodge Challenger Targa is a full-blown competition car that raced and completed the infamous Targa Newfoundland race this year. �Samantha� started life as a Mopar Challenger drag race package car. Many features were borrowed from the Dodge Viper, but the most noticeable is the snakeskin green paint. To keep the front end down, a Mopar chin spoiler "Splats� developed in a full scale wind tunnel, was added to the front of the car. Mopar gauges keep a close eye on the vital signs. The Mopar hood is equipped with a scoop to make room for the 540-horsepower, 490 lb. ft. of torque, 392 HEMI� V-8 Mopar crate motor. Mated to a Tremec six-speed manual gearbox, the engine blasts power to the rear wheels through a production 2009 modified gear ratio in the rear end. An abundance of fade resistant stopping power comes from Stop-Tech brakes. Up front, the six-piston calipers clamp 380-millimetre rotors, while in the rear, four-pot calipers work with 355-mm rotors. Developed by KW, the race suspension and brake upgrades came from a proven hero � the Dodge Viper ACR, which just broke the production car lap record at the world-renown Nurburgring in Germany. With only a few exceptions, the Dodge Challenger Targa was built using parts available through Mopar.
